Guitar, Bass

Michael Cummings started playing guitar at the age of 11 when he received his first Stratocaster Guitar. Influenced by his parents' love of music, Mike looks to playing guitar to bring out emotion, creativity, and a way to express himself. Mike is accomplished in both acoustic and electric guitar.

Over the course of his childhood and into middle/high school , Mike continued to build his skillset. While being able to play by ear, he picked up saxophone in his teenage years which helped him tremendously in learning how to read sheet music.

After high school, Mike studied music theory at Reynolds College. While continuing to grow his network playing with different musicians in the Richmond area, he became invested in learning everything he could about the technical side of guitar equipment. This included guitar pedals that produce special effects/distortion, delays, flangers, and overdrives.

Mike has taught private lessons since 2003 to elementary school aged children, those in their teenage years, young adults, and older adults who are just starting their musical journey. He brings a positive energy to all, and a solid foundation in performance as he has experience with gigging around the Richmond area.

Mike can cover a wide range of styles on the guitar, and focuses on individual students' interest in what they want to learn to play.
