Piano, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Baritone, Euphonium

Rachel has been playing the piano and the trombone since childhood. Growing up in a musical family, music has always played a big part in her life. She was active in school bands in addition to taking private lessons throughout grade school. In high school she was a member of Tri-M (a musical honor society), qualified for district band through audition, and was ranked in the top 10% of trombone players in the state of Virginia. Throughout her education she developed a working knowledge of brass instruments, music theory, a variety of playing styles, and much more.

After high school, Rachel pursued and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, while continuing her musical career, playing in bands offered by the school as well as in the Richmond area. She is currently active with the ACCA Temple Shiners in their German band, The Sauerkrauts, 100% of whose proceeds go to benefit Shriner-owned hospitals.

Rachel has been giving private lessons since 2006, and has a deep passion for musical education. She feels learning to play an instrument enriches life in a way few other things can. "I've seen music add to, and heal for people in countless ways, so I want to do my best to spread it far and wide."
