Anne Coldiron
Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Piano

When she was about 6 or 7, Anne’s father was passing by the piano one day in December and distinctly heard the tune “Little Drummer Boy”. Anne was playing by ear and since her mother could play the piano properly, her parents decided she needed to take piano lessons.

Anne also joined the elementary school band and played clarinet in 5th grade, which was when beginning band was taught in West Palm Beach, Florida where she grew up. She played all through school making all-state band in high school as a junior and senior. She went on to graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Music Education. There, she played with the VCU Woodwind Quintet and was selected numerous years for the Virginia Inter-Collegiate Band. She has also completed 12 hours toward a master’s degree in Conducting.

With an eye for design and choreography, after college she has enjoyed a very successful career designing for the most competitive marching bands on the east coast, including the three-time MBA (now BOA) National Champions from Rocky Mount, NC. In addition to award winning marching bands, numerous national WGI finalist Winter Guards, and judging, she has lots of experience teaching concert bands and orchestras, many top brass and woodwind ensembles and private lessons.

Because being an active musician is important to keeping the music fresh and exciting, Anne plays with The Richmond Pops Band, The Richmond Philharmonic, and is director and player for The Richmond Clarinet Choir.
